【新北市訊】農業局今（3日）響應聯合國「世界野生動植物日」（每年3月3日），於石碇高中種植30株5年生野外滅絕級烏來杜鵑實生(種子)苗，建立全台第一座烏來杜鵑在無性繁殖與有性繁殖的對照區，栽種烏來杜鵑種子苗，開啟基因多樣性復育原生種「烏來杜鵑」新里程碑。

農業局副局長徐開宇表示，烏來杜鵑雖以烏來為名，但原生地分布在北勢溪一帶，民國73年翡翠水庫竣工將其原生地淹沒後，烏來杜鵑便漸漸消失於野外，目前僅存人工栽培植株，因此被農委會特有生物保育研究中心評估為「野外滅絕級植物」，亟待復育與推廣。農業局於104年起與嘉義大學合作培育1,200株烏來杜鵑實生(種子)苗，在同樣環境下生長種苗的植株大小、成長速度也都有很高的差異性，而杜鵑屬的植物因為種子較小，所以由種子所培育之苗木生長較為緩慢，今年起將撫育5年生的植株移植至適宜棲地，讓烏來杜鵑能在野地自然的繁衍復育。

嘉義大學林瑞進老師表示，過去在復育時所栽種的烏來杜鵑多為無性繁殖的扦插苗，可以保留母株的優良性狀，但為了增加基因的歧異度，有性繁殖經減數分裂，基因多樣性高，可提高後代子孫對逆境抗性；無性繁殖無減數分裂，後代基因相同，易引起基因窄化，無法對抗極端氣候變化，因此，推廣烏來杜鵑實生苗復育刻不容緩。

石碇高中校長楊憶湘表示，104年起與農業局合作於校園栽種2,000株的烏來杜鵑，教導師生烏來杜鵑正確的栽植步驟及技巧；為增進學校自行復育的能力與技術，農業局邀請嘉義大學林瑞進老師，指導學校師生一同動手修枝採穗，並以現採枝條進行扦插，大家從認識扦插、採穗母株的選擇與進行扦插等工作，最後再灑些水及發根素，增加烏來杜鵑族群數量，石碇高中操場周邊都可見花蹤，淡雅美麗的花朵為校園增添不少姿色。今日於石碇高中栽種由基因多樣性所培養的烏來杜鵑種子苗，讓石碇高中成為名符其實的「烏來杜鵑」教育及多樣性復育基地。

農業局表示，讓烏來杜鵑的保育由物種保育邁向基因多樣性保育，藉此將技術及觀念推廣至國家未來主人翁，代表著生態保育結合教育永續傳承，讓「世界野生動植物日」更具意義。

[New Taipei City News] The Bureau of Agriculture today (3rd) responded to the United Nations "World Wildlife Day" (March 3 every year) by planting 30 5-year-old wild extinct Rhododendron seedlings (seeds) at Shiding High School. Establish the first Rhododendron wulaiensis in the control zone of asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction, and plant the seedlings of Rhododendron wulaiii, which opens a new milestone in the genetic diversity restoration of the native species "Rhododendron wulai".

Xu Kaiyu, deputy director of the Bureau of Agriculture, said that although Wulai Rhododendron is named Wulai, its native area is distributed in the Beishixi area. After the completion of the Feicui Reservoir in the Republic of China in 1973, Wulai Rhododendron gradually disappeared into the wild. There are artificially cultivated plants, so they are evaluated as "wild extinct plants" by the Special Biological Conservation Research Center of the Council of Agriculture, and they are in urgent need of restoration and promotion. The Bureau of Agriculture has cooperated with Chiayi University to cultivate 1,200 seedlings of Rhododendron wulai in 2004. The plant size and growth rate of the seedlings grown in the same environment are also very different. The plants of the genus Rhododendron are because The seeds are small, so the seedlings cultivated by the seeds grow slowly. Starting this year, the 5-year-old plants will be transplanted to suitable habitats so that Rhododendron Wulai can reproduce naturally in the wild.

Teacher Lin Ruijin from Chiayi University said that most of the Wulai Rhododendrons planted in the past were asexually reproduced cutting seedlings, which can retain the excellent traits of the mother plant, but in order to increase the degree of genetic divergence, sexual reproduction undergoes meiosis. High genetic diversity can increase the resistance of offspring to adversity; asexual reproduction has no meiosis, and offspring have the same genes, which can easily cause gene narrowing and cannot fight extreme climate changes. Therefore, it is urgent to promote the regeneration of seedlings of Rhododendron Wulai .

Yang Yixiang, the principal of Shiding High School, said that since 2004, he has cooperated with the Bureau of Agriculture to plant 2,000 Wulai Rhododendrons on campus, teaching teachers and students the correct planting steps and skills of Wulai Rhododendrons; in order to enhance the school’s ability and technology for self-rehabilitation, the Bureau of Agriculture Invite teacher Lin Ruijin from Chiayi University to instruct teachers and students of the school to work together to prun and pick ears, and cut cuttings with freshly picked branches. Everyone starts from understanding cuttings, choosing mother plants for picking ears, and performing cuttings. Finally, sprinkle some water and hair roots. Su, to increase the number of Wulai Rhododendrons, flowers can be seen around the playground of Shiding High School, and the elegant and beautiful flowers add a lot of beauty to the campus. Today, Shiding High School is planting Wulai Rhododendron seedlings cultivated by genetic diversity, making Shiding High School a veritable "Wulai Rhododendron" education and diversity restoration base.

The Bureau of Agriculture stated that the conservation of Wulai Rhododendron has moved from species conservation to genetic diversity conservation, thereby extending technology and concepts to the future masters of the country, representing the sustainable inheritance of ecological conservation combined with education, and making "World Wildlife Day" more Meaningful.
