避免使用化學防曬乳危害海洋珊瑚 臺東縣結合環保團體及民間推動珊瑚保護區

你知道珊瑚白化的原因有哪些嗎？海水受到外在來污染時也會間接造成珊瑚白化，其中化學防曬乳為原因之一，去年臺東縣已響應綠色和平及聯合國2030永續發展目標(Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs)簽署綠色和平宣言，其中第14項就是傳達「保育及永續利用海洋生態系」，結合環保團體及民間推動珊瑚保護區，一起辦理宣導珊瑚保育及進行科學研究與監測等工作。

臺東縣政府表示，臺東兩處離島地區擁有豐富的海洋生態及原民風情長期吸引遊客前往，近年來離島地區遊客數量逐年增加，衍生出海洋生態以珊瑚白化為問題之一，因為防曬乳中具遮光功能成分的二苯甲酮及甲氧基肉桂酸辛酯等化學物質，會打亂珊瑚蟲的內分泌，破壞成年珊瑚的DNA，造成幼蟲提早骨骼化，無力適應海水升溫，導致白化最後死亡，親近海水時塗抹防曬用品會導致其中的化學成分對海洋帶來傷害。

臺東縣環境保護局指出，前往海邊及親水活動場域時，盡量選擇標示「海洋友善」的商品，或者是穿長袖、戴帽子墨鏡等物理性防曬，避免使用化學有害防曬乳，減輕海洋及海中生物受到傷害。

Do you know the causes of coral bleaching? When the seawater is polluted by external sources, it can also indirectly cause coral bleaching. One of the reasons is chemical sunscreen. Last year, Taitung County responded to Greenpeace and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to sign the Greenpeace Declaration. The 14th item is to convey the "Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Marine Ecosystem", combining environmental protection groups and the private to promote coral protection areas, together with the promotion of coral conservation and scientific research and monitoring.

The Taitung County Government stated that the two outlying islands in Taitung have a rich marine ecology and aboriginal customs that have long attracted tourists. In recent years, the number of tourists in outlying islands has increased year by year. Coral bleaching has emerged as one of the problems in marine ecology because of sunscreen Chemicals such as benzophenone and octyl methoxycinnamate, which have light-shielding components, disrupt the endocrine of coral worms and damage adult coral’s DNA, causing larvae to become skeletal early and unable to adapt to the warming of seawater, leading to bleaching and death. Applying sunscreen products when you are close to the sea will cause the chemical ingredients in it to cause harm to the ocean.

The Taitung County Environmental Protection Bureau pointed out that when going to the seaside and hydrophilic activity sites, try to choose products labeled "Marine Friendly", or wear long sleeves, hats and sunglasses, and other physical sunscreens. Avoid using chemically harmful sunscreens to reduce ocean and ocean pollution. Creatures in the sea are harmed.
