1856年：鄂圖曼土耳其帝國、俄羅斯、薩丁尼亞王國、法國、英國、奧地利和普魯士簽署《巴黎條約》，克里米亞戰爭結束。

1867年：美國國務卿威廉·西華德與俄國代表簽訂協議，以720萬美元從俄國手中購買阿拉斯加。

1879年：日本侵占琉球，廢琉球王國，改置為沖繩郡。

1912年：法國與摩洛哥簽署《費茲條約》，摩洛哥正式淪為法國的被保護國。

1940年：日本扶持下的傀儡政權汪精衛政權在南京成立，汪精衛就任該政權的國民政府主席和行政院長。

1949年：《王子復仇記》獲得第21屆奧斯卡金像獎的最佳影片，最佳男主角大獎。

1950年：中華人民共和國教育部發出通告，規定宣布6月1日國際兒童節為中國兒童節，廢除中華民國訂立的4月4日兒童節。

1961年：旨在反對違法麻醉品製造和走私的國際公約《麻醉品單一公約》在美國紐約的國際會議上被簽署。

1973年：中華人民共和國政府任命黃鎮為中國駐美聯絡處主任，韓敘為副主任。

1979年：鄧小平在中共中央理論務虛會上提出了「四項基本原則」。

1979年：香港政府收回中環域多利兵房，而駐港英軍司令部則搬遷至添馬艦威爾斯親王軍營。

1981年：美國總統隆納·威爾遜·雷根在華盛頓希爾頓飯店門前受到精神病患者約翰·欣克利的刺殺而受重傷。

1993年：榮毅仁辭去中信公司董事長，就任國家副主席。

1998年：德國BMW汽車製造公司買下英國維克斯集團（英語：Vickers）的勞斯萊斯汽車製造公司。

2011年：緬甸國防軍大將丹瑞解散國家和平與發展委員會，把政權移交民選政府。

2019年：中國四川涼山木里森林發生森林火災，截至4月4日，27名森林消防指戰員和4名地方群眾幹部在救活中犧牲，最小犧牲者僅18歲。

1856: The Ottoman Turk Empire, Russia, the Kingdom of Sardinia, France, Britain, Austria and Prussia signed the Treaty of Paris, and the Crimean War ended.

1867: US Secretary of State William Seward signed an agreement with Russian representatives to purchase Alaska from Russia for 7.2 million US dollars.

1879: Japan invaded and occupied Ryukyu, abolished the Ryukyu Kingdom and changed it to Okinawa County.

20th century

1912: France and Morocco signed the "Fez Treaty", and Morocco officially became a protected country of France.

1940: The regime of Wang Jingwei, a puppet regime supported by Japan, was established in Nanjing, and Wang Jingwei became the chairman of the national government and president of the regime.

1949: "The Prince's Revenge" won the 21st Oscar Award for Best Picture and Best Actor Award.

1950: The Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China issued a notice stating that June 1st International Children’s Day shall be Chinese Children’s Day and the April 4th Children’s Day established by the Republic of China shall be abolished.

1961: The "Single Convention on Narcotics", an international convention aimed at opposing the manufacture and smuggling of illegal narcotics, was signed at an international conference in New York, USA.

1973: The government of the People's Republic of China appointed Huang Zhen as the director of the China Liaison Office in the United States, and Han Xu as the deputy director.

1979: Deng Xiaoping put forward the "Four Basic Principles" at the CPC Central Committee Theoretical Retreat.

1979: The Hong Kong government took back the Victoria Barracks in Central, and the British Forces Command in Hong Kong moved to the Prince of Wales Barracks at Tamar.

1981: U.S. President Ronald Wilson Reagan was assassinated and seriously injured by the mentally ill John Hinckley in front of the Washington Hilton Hotel.

1993: Rong Yiren resigned as chairman of CITIC Company and became vice chairman of the country.

1998: German BMW Motor Manufacturing Company bought the Rolls-Royce Motor Manufacturing Company of the British Vickers Group (English: Vickers).

21st century

2011: The Burmese National Defense Forces General Than Shwe disbanded the National Peace and Development Council and transferred power to the democratically elected government.

2019: A forest fire broke out in Muli Forest, Liangshan, Sichuan, China. As of April 4, 27 forest firefighting officers and 4 local mass cadres died in the rescue. The youngest victim was only 18 years old.
